Dearest Sisters,
You are young, and your youth shall take you far. You will see that life would not be as extreme as you presumed it to be. I would like to take this opportunity to shed some light about the love I have for the order that I have grown in—the order that has embraced me, and shaped me into the woman that I am now.
• Born to Privilege
We are fully aware that the only ticket we have, in getting into the order, is that we must be relatives or direct descendants of a Master Mason. It is through this that we all share a certain bond with each other. Although we have differences, we still share the same rights and privileges. In this way, we are elite.
• Equity
I have seen different individuals since I first joined. All coming from various backgrounds, having dissimilar personalities, and bringing with them distinctive outlooks. This is one of the things that I love about the order, you can be different from each other, yet you are still treated equally. More importantly, each and everyone is like family. No one gets left behind.
• Decisiveness
I’m sure you know what it feels to be let down. It’s not a verb I would want to be stuck with. And in all things, everything has two sides. Triumph or frustration. I’d choose the former too, but you can’t always get what you want. Being in the bethel means you have to mingle with others, and try to connect with the people you call sisters. However we may feel differently about them, cards will always be laid down before you. And at all times this will be a matter of choice. Whether or not you find ways around this dilemma, or give into the predicament and sulk. Remember, lemonade comes from lemons.
• Generosity
You can never be too busy for Job’s Daughters. Even if you are caught up in an engagement, your mind will surely flutter off. You are always left wondering of what you have missed. You end up wanting to give more and more of your time, effort, and assistance. Be it for charity, fundraisers and parties. There is simply no better feeling that will replace the one you just had after making someone happy.
• Like No Other
Even if you’ve already gone to several places, or bumped into quite a number of people, the ones you have met in the bethel will forever remain significant. You may know them well, you may not. That does not really matter. But the memory you will leave them, will mark a dent in their hearts. If there really is no place like home, I think it is undeniable that there is also no place like the bethel.
So you see, Job’s Daughters is not just about ritualistic ceremonies, stated meetings and obligations. It is about flair of talent, boisterous laughter, lasting friendships, tears of joy, amazing surprises, memorable bloopers, all that and more plus a bag of chips!
Hence, take it slow. Enjoy your time while it lasts. There can never be too many things you can do for the order. Just as my love for it can never be enough.
Jobie love,
Sis Elaine Meldred V. Dy, PHQ, MM
